Warrington is the southwest corner of Pensacola, wrapped around NAS Pensacola and Corry Station, and it is a fifteen minute run from the yard down Barrancas or out Navy Boulevard. It is a Navy town inside a Navy town — the base gate, the aviation museum, Fort Barrancas and Bayou Grande all sit within a couple of miles, and the neighbourhood has been built around that for the better part of a century.

The housing is dense mid-century: 1940s through 1960s frame and block, small lots, carports, a lot of it built quickly for base workers and their families and still doing that job. The other rhythm is the military calendar. Getting a truck to you

West on Barrancas Avenue out of downtown, or Navy Boulevard if the address sits on the highway side. Fifteen minutes from the yard on a normal morning. What we plan around is base traffic — the gate queues at shift change put real volume on Navy Boulevard and Barrancas, and a loaded truck sits in it like everyone else. On these narrow streets we need to know in advance whether there is off-street space, how wide the drive is and whether cars will be parked both sides, so the driver is not making that decision with a container in the air.
