Concrete is the one material where the usual dumpster logic is backwards. Everything else gets sized on volume; concrete gets sized on weight, and the numbers are unforgiving. Broken slab, brick and block run roughly 2,400 to 2,800 pounds per cubic yard depending on how much sand and base comes up with it. A few cubic yards of driveway is heavier than an entire house full of furniture. That is why the right box for concrete is small and why the job usually takes more than one of them.

Why The Small Box Is The Right Box

For concrete, brick, block, sand and asphalt the answer is almost always a 10 yard. It is the only size with walls low enough to load heavy material over the side by hand and a footprint that will not crack a driveway when it is full. A 15 yard works for lighter mixed masonry or a smaller brick job. A 20 yard is about the ceiling, and only when the material is loose and light. A 40 is always the wrong answer here — it hits legal road weight with a couple of feet of concrete in the bottom, so you pay to move steel and air. Multiple small swaps beat one large box every time on this material.

Clean means clean. No wood, no plastic, no soil, no trash mixed in with the concrete, because a clean load gets crushed for fill and base and a contaminated one gets reclassified at the scale and priced as mixed debris. Rebar is a separate question — some facilities take reinforced concrete and some do not, so tell us up front if the slab is reinforced or has wire mesh in it, and we will route the load properly.
