30 Yard Dumpster Rental in Pensacola, FL

The production container. New construction in Pace, Navarre and north Escambia, additions, commercial fit-outs, whole-home cleanouts and post-hurricane gut-outs where wet drywall, carpet and insulation come out of a house fast. Big volume, real weight discipline — wet storm debris is far heavier than it looks.

A 30 yard roll-off is 22 feet long, 8 feet wide and about six feet tall, rated for roughly four to five tons — nine to twelve pickup loads. Same footprint as the 20, another foot and a half of wall. That is the trade: you get a lot more volume without needing more driveway, but you also get a box that is easy to overload if the material is dense or wet.

Why people choose the 30 yard

The clean use is new work. Builders in Pace, Navarre, Milton and north Escambia run a 30 through framing, siding, roofing and interior trim because the debris is bulky and comparatively light — offcuts, sheathing scrap, housewrap, cardboard, banding, cabinet crating. Additions and bonus-room builds are the same profile. So are commercial fit-outs, where ceiling grid, ductwork, partition framing and old millwork come out of a suite in a couple of days; that side runs through commercial dumpster rental with scheduled swaps so the crew never waits on steel. For job-site logistics and disposal routing, our construction debris disposal guide for northwest Florida covers where the material actually goes, and roll-off dumpster rental covers the rest of the fleet.

The other clean use is emptying a house completely. A full estate, a hoarding-condition property, a rental portfolio turnover, a fire or water loss where everything soft goes out. A 30 swallows furniture, mattresses, appliances, shelving, carpet and the whole contents of a garage and attic in one placement, which keeps a crew moving instead of stopping every few hours to wait on a swap. Start with the estate cleanout checklist. Pull salvage first on an old house — heart pine flooring, beadboard, doors, mantels, transoms, clawfoot tubs, hardware and old brick all have buyers on the Gulf Coast — and if the property is in a City of Pensacola historic district, exterior work and demolition can need Architectural Review Board approval before anything starts. Requirements change; confirm the current process with the city before you schedule demo.

Now the warning, because it is the one that costs people a day. Post-hurricane gut-outs are natural 30 yard work — wet drywall, carpet, pad, insulation and cabinetry come out of a flooded house fast, and you want that material outside within the 24 to 48 hour window before mould takes hold. But saturated material is far heavier than the same material dry. A 30 filled with soaked drywall and wet carpet can go overweight while it still looks like it has room, and an overweight box does not get lifted. On a wet job we would rather run a smaller container on a faster rotation, and we will say so when you call. Keep the load below the rails so it can be tarped, too; leaving an open heaped box through a Gulf Coast downpour adds weight you did not plan for. Vegetative debris — limbs, whole pines, live oak wood — stays out of it entirely and rides as a separate clean load through yard waste removal, because Florida separates yard trash from solid waste.

Good fit for

  • New construction in Pace, Navarre and north Escambia
  • Additions, bonus rooms and second-storey builds
  • Commercial and office fit-outs and strip-outs
  • Whole-home and estate cleanouts in one placement
  • Post-hurricane interior gut-outs, staged for weight
  • Large multi-room renovations and full-house flips
  • Framing, siding and sheathing scrap from a build
  • Property preservation and hoarding-condition work

Not the right size for

  • Concrete, brick, block, tile, sand and fill
  • Heavy saturated storm debris in bulk — it goes overweight
  • Plaster, lath and stacked heart pine from an old house
  • Tight historic driveways and short beach lots

Will it fit?

A 30 needs the same room as a 20 on the ground — about 60 feet of straight approach, roughly 10 and a half feet of width — but it is a taller box, so give it a genuine 20 feet or more of overhead for the hoist arm to swing clear. Low live oak limbs are the number-one thing that stops a set in this town, and a limb that cleared a 20 will not always clear a 30. It suits suburban and new-construction lots in Pace, Milton, Cantonment and Navarre far better than the short original drives in North Hill or Seville, or the tight sandy sets on Pensacola Beach and Perdido Key. Protection boards go down as standard, and on sand, shell or pavers they are not optional. On rural north Escambia and Santa Rosa properties, flag the septic tank, drain field and well head before delivery, and keep the set off the field entirely.

Before delivery, move cars and bins, mark irrigation heads and septic lids, and tell us about new concrete, soft ground, a steep grade or low power lines. Our delivery and driveway protection guide covers all of it.

30 Yard Dumpster FAQs

Is a 30 yard dumpster too big for a post-hurricane gut-out?

Not on volume — on weight. Wet drywall, saturated carpet, pad and insulation weigh far more than the same material dry, so a 30 can pass its legal payload while it still looks like it has room, and then it does not get lifted. On a soaked house we often run a smaller box on a faster rotation instead. Move quickly either way; the window before mould takes hold is roughly 24 to 48 hours.

What is the difference between a 20 and a 30 yard dumpster?

Same 22 foot length and 8 foot width, about a foot and a half more wall height and roughly half again the volume. The 30 needs no extra driveway length but does want more overhead clearance for the hoist arm. Choose the 20 for dense or wet material and for tighter drives, and the 30 for bulky light debris from new construction, additions, fit-outs and whole-home cleanouts.

Can I put storm-downed trees and limbs in a 30 yard?

Not mixed with construction or household debris. Florida separates yard trash from solid waste, so limbs, whole pines and live oak wood go as a separate clean load to a yard-waste or mulching facility. Mixing them gets the load reclassified at the scale. After a storm we routinely stage two containers at one property — one clean vegetative, one structural. Post-storm collection rules shift during an event, so confirm current county guidance.

Do I need a permit for a 30 yard dumpster in Pensacola?

On your own driveway or private property, generally no. If it has to sit in the public right-of-way or block a lane, that is a different conversation and can require approval, and inside a City of Pensacola historic district the demolition work itself may need Architectural Review Board sign-off before it starts. Requirements change, so read our permit guide and confirm the current process with the city or county before delivery day.

How long can I keep a 30 yard on site during hurricane season?

As long as the job needs, with one caveat between June and November. Keep the load below the rails so it can be tarped, and do not leave a heaped open container sitting through a watch or a heavy rain event — rain weight is real and loose debris is a hazard in wind. If a storm is tracking toward the Gulf Coast, call us and we will pull it early and bring another back afterwards.
