Myrtle Grove is the big unincorporated area west of the city off Mobile Highway, and it is one of the shortest runs on our board — twelve to fifteen minutes out Fairfield Drive or Mobile Highway from the yard. It is not a town and it has no centre; it is a wide spread of residential streets between Mobile Highway, Lillian Highway and the Warrington side, and it is one of the most populated parts of Escambia County.

Nothing here sits over anything below grade, so on a cleanout the volume is entirely in the garage, the attic, the shed and whatever has been stacked along the fence line. It comes out faster than people expect and it fills a box faster than they expect too. Storms add to it: Ivan and Sally both put pine and live oak limbs across these streets, and that vegetative debris goes as its own clean load to a yard-waste facility rather than into a box with drywall and shingles.

Two things shape a Myrtle Grove drop. The first is trees. These streets are canopied with live oak and pine, and the hoist arm on a roll-off needs a lot more vertical clearance than the truck itself does. Getting a truck to you

West on Fairfield Drive or out Mobile Highway from the yard, then onto the residential streets. Twelve to fifteen minutes on a normal morning, which is why so much of our same-day work lands over here. What we plan around is the Mobile Highway commercial traffic at rush hour and the school runs. On the residential streets we need to know the drive width, whether there are low oak limbs, and whether cars park both sides, because a roll-off truck needs a straight back-in and room to raise the box before it sets down.
